  • I want to use rechargeable lithium batteries in an E9 camera with an SP350 connected. It seems that this is possible, at least during discharge. If the internal and external rechargeable batteries are fully charged to start with, and SP350's solar panel can't collect any power because there's no sun for months, what will happen? If the E9 is continuously on and recording pictures, what will happen before the camera turns off; will both sets of batteries be discharged? Now the questions about recharging. If the sunshine returned just before the E9 would have turned off, and was continuously available during the day for weeks, will the camera stay on? Secondly, will the SP350's batteries be recharged, and will the internal batteries will be recharged? If the camera was turned off when the sun returned, would recharging be the same, except possibly quicker?

    Firstly, the GardePro solar panels SP350/SP300 both have a charging connection to the 12V charging port on the bottom of the camera, so if you were to equip the E9 camera with an external rechargeable Li-Ion battery pack, there would be no input port. Therefore the SP350 and external rechargeable lithium battery pack cannot be used at the same time.

    If the SP350 solar panel is connected to the E9 camera, the SP350's built-in 5200mAh Li-Ion battery will not charge the E9 camera's AA batteries since the E9 does not use an external rechargeable Li-Ion battery pack.The SP350's solar panel will try to collect solar energy and store it in the built-in battery, but this will not directly help the E9 camera's AA batteries.

    If the solar panel fails to collect power because there is no sun for months, then the SP350's built-in battery will not be charged and will not provide power to the E9 camera. Meanwhile, if the E9 camera stays on and takes photos, it will consume the power of 8 AA batteries. If the AA batteries are depleted before the camera is switched off, the camera will switch off due to insufficient power.

    If sunlight returns before the E9 camera is switched off, the SP350's solar panels will begin to collect solar energy and attempt to charge its built-in 5200mAh lithium-ion batteries and provide power to the camera itself. However, this will not directly affect the E9 camera's AA batteries unless the AA batteries are removed and charged using other means.
    If the E9 camera is switched off before there is sunlight, the camera will be rebooted as the SP350's solar panels are charging it, but this won't help to charge the AA batteries unless the AA batteries are removed and charged.
